Planning of Operation N II is on its way... who will take part and how it will be done.
After this episode, there will be only 2 more episodes. It seems every individual has a precious person "N", and is going to do things to save/protect his/her "N". We'll yet to see who is whose "N" and how each "N" is going to be protected.

2014 on Aokage Jima.
At the grave of Naruse Shinji's father, Takano and his wife run into Shinji whom they didn't see for more than 10 years.
They go to a restaurant and have a talk. Takano tells Shinji that the statute of limitation on the fire of Shinji's father's restaurant runs out in Sept. 2015, and he's been re-investigating the case on his own. Takano learned of the murder case of Mr. and Mrs. Noguchi through his re-investigation as both Shinji and Sugishita are inolved in the case. Testimonies of each individual who were at the murder scene make perfect sense, but if he looks at the whole case, some things do not fit nicely. Takano wants to know what they are.
Shinji tells Takano he quit his college and has been doing well, working in a restaurant.
Takano gives Sugishita Nozomi's phone number to Shinji and suggests that he call her.
In Tokyo at Nobara Apt.
Sugishita Nozomi meets Nishizaki Makoto for the first time after Nishizaki got out of prison. Sugishita returns the money Nishizaki sent her, saying it's not necessary. Nishizaki knows about her cancer and asks her how she's been. She tells him she can manage by herself.
Nishizaki thanks Sugishita for the past ten years. Sugishita thanks him as well.
2004 at Nobara Apt.
Nishizaki asks Naruse Shinji to take part in Operation N II, but Naruse declines, saying Nishizaki should contact the police.
A few days later, Sugishita receives a text message from Naruse, that he will join the operation to rescue Mrs. Noguchi because he understands what Nishizaki feels when his precious person is in danger. Naruse tells Sugishita that the catering service at his restaurant received a cancellation for a dinner appointment on Christmas eve.
At work, Andou Nozomi is doing very well, bringing good results to the company. He is considered as a promising businessman who is to succeed Mr. Noguchi. Noguchi sees Andou as his rival and is jealous.
Sugishita and Andou go to Noguchi's place. While Sugishita chats with Mrs. Noguchi, Andou play Japanese chess with Noguchi. Andou and Noguchi are going to bet on Andou's new position in their company. If Noguchi wins, Andou will move and work in a far-away third world country. If Andou wins, Noguchi will not let Andou take that position.
Sugishita asks Mrs. Noguchi if she is really fine. Mrs. Noguchi answers that her husband gives her anything, but there is one thing she doesn't have.... strength to live by herself.
Mrs. Noguchi thanks Sugishita for recommending the restaurant catering service (which Naruse works) to her husband. The Noguchis are going to have that service on Christmas eve, and invite Sugishita and Andou to the dinner. Sugishita and Andou accept the invitation.
After Sugishita and Andou leave, Mrs. Noguchi thanks her husband for having them visit her. She asks her husband to take her out to eat next time. Mr. Noguchi answers that he'll take her anywhere when she "gets better".
Sugishita, Naruse and Nishizaki get together in Sugishita's room to make a plan for Operation N II. On Christmas eve, Nishizaki is going to pretend to be a colleague of Naruse, and the two are going to bring in food from the restaurant to Naruse's place. While Naruse is preparing the meal, Nishizaki is going to take Mrs. Noguchi outside. When those things are taking place, Sugishita is to play Japanese chess with Mr. Noguchi in his den.
Back in his room at Nobara, Nihizaki remembers his childhood days. His mother had an affair with his teacher, which was a talk of the town. Even his classmates knew about the affair. One day, his mother was crying hard in their apartment and told Nishizaki that the teacher no longer loved her. Putting burning cigarette on his arm, she asked Nishizaki if he loved her. Nishizaki still has those burn marks.
When the little Nishizaki realized his apartment is burning, he ran to the room where his mother was. He watched his mother burning. The little Nishizaki thought he could have saved her, but he didn't..... so he believes he killed her.
Nishizaki is still not sure about Operation N II. He is afraid if Mrs. Noguchi may not be willing to escape the apartment with Nishizaki. He is not sure if he's doing the right thing. Sugishita tells him even if Mrs. Noguchi declines, it's better to give her a chance to escape, and Nishizaki will have no regrets.
Mr. Noguchi takes his wife to a Japanese restaurant, but it isn't going well. She's not eating. Mr. Noguchi tells her it was too early and she should have stayed home. Mrs. Noguchi leaves the room, saying she's going to a restroom.
While Mr. Noguchi waits for her, Mrs. Noguchi leaves the restaurant and goes to a pubic telephone nearby. She calls Nishizaki and asks for help. She wants him to take her out of her place on Christmas eve when Sugishita and Andou come. The phone call is cut off as Mr. Noguchi finds his wife. He takes her back home immediately.
2004.
Naruse realizes that Andou Nozomi is not a woman as he thought. He also finds out that Andou is planning to ask Sugishita to marry him at the Christmas eve dinner with the Noguchis. He is surprised and shocked.
2014.
On Aokage Jima. Takano cannot find his wife, and finds a letter she left for him. In the letter, she says she has something she should have told him a long time ago. She's now going to tell him about it. It is about a person who started the fire of Naruse Shinji's parents' restaurant....
Naruse Shinji is thinking about working in a restaurant which is going to open soon on Aokage Jima. He looks at the phone number of Sugishita which was given to him by Takano. He decides to call her.
Sugishita is walking. She suddenly feels sick and falls down on the ground. At that moment her cell phone starts to ring. It's a call from Naruse....
Murder scene from 2004.
It is Mrs. Noguchi who picks up the candle stand... She was not the first person to be killed...
