Japan has been trying to increase the number of lawyers through its reform of the judicial system such as setting up law schools and increasing the target number of those who pass the bar exam. According to the narration of this drama, lawyers these days find it difficult to find jobs and make their living.
Season 1 |
In Season 2 which just started, Shouji is now working in a different law firm together with his old girlfriend. He is about to leave for London where he'll be working in a branch office of his law firm for 3 years or so. To make up for Shouji, Sugawara decides to hire a lawyer, Mr. Nishibeppu. Nishibeppu used to be a prosecutor and seems to have a very sarcastic character. So far he is still mysterious.
The original story of this drama is a manga of the same title by Asou Mikoto.
As of Oct. 2013, only 16% of all the Japanese lawyers are female (4,671 out of 28,828; Wiki ). So this drama is about a minority lawyer.
Soko wo Nantoka Season 2 is going to have 8 episodes until September.
