Kazoku Gari Ep.5

Stories are developing, and we know more about the art teacher's past, why he does not believe in family, why he does not seem to have a family as he never talks about it.  As for the detective's family, the wife is now crazy with jealousy toward his lover.

(Spoiler)
The art teacher and the case worker go to a house of a male student who turned violent, throwing and breaking things in his house.  His mother, the poor woman, is terrified and don't know what to do.  All she tells the art teacher and the case worker is to leave the boy alone and not to disturb him so that his violence will not get worse.  The case worker tells the mother they must try to communicate with the boy because he is having a harder time than she.

The boy shuts himself in his room.  Outside the door, the art teacher tries to communicate with him.  The boy plays loud music, and the teacher sends phone messages (e-mail) to the boy.

The teacher tells the boy that he withdrew himself from society just like the boy when he was in junior high school.  He stayed in his room all the time and thought about killing his parents.  Being unable to kill his parents, he left home and ran away to Tokyo.  There, he lied his age and had part-time jobs here and there.

Then, he decided to go to art college as he wanted to be a painter like (Jean-Michel) Basquiat.  Since he didn't go to high school, he studied hard and passed the GED test (equivalent to a high school diploma).   He didn't have much talent in painting so that he gave up his dream to be a painter and became an art teacher.

The teacher starts to talk about his love of adult DVDs, and that topic somehow breaks the barrier around the boy as he starts to send phone messages back to the art teacher.  The teacher sends a message that they should watch those DVDs together at his classroom.

"You are more stunning than Basquiat."

The boy is calm and there's no more loud music.  The art teacher and the case worker leave the boy's house and go to the art classroom for a coffee and a chat.  There, we see the two are connected somewhere deep inside.  While the teacher is having a snooze, the case worker writes a message and leaves the classroom.

The detective's wife acts cute and lovely in front of the detective.  However, when he is not around, she is boiling mad with jealousy.

The detective's boss is suspicious of the detective as the detective is too enthusiastic toward the 3 family murder cases.  He thinks the detective might be the murderer.

Whereabouts of the detective's lover who disappeared with her son to get away from her ex-husband are now known to the detective as well as to the ex.  The evil ex arranges to have the detective's wife deliver flowers to his former wife.  The former wife opens the door with a knife in her hand, thinking it is her ex standing there.  There she faces the detective wife who has scissors in her hand.

Seeing the art teacher and her colleague communicate so well with problem kids, the case worker loses her confidence and wonders if she may not be needed by this society.  She also remembers that the art teacher's girlfriend telling her not to get in touch with him.  She turns cold to the art teacher and tells him not to come to her house.

The art teacher sends a phone message to the boy who acted violent and made his mother terrified, and promised to watch adult DVD together in his classroom before the school starts in the morning.

On that morning, the teacher brings coffee and the boy brings raisin bread.  They watch DVD together and seem to be well connected.  Then suddenly, the art teacher's girlfriend and some students enters the art classroom, and starts to make fun of the boy.  The boy turns violent and starts to throw things.
