New Spring Drama: Dr. Rintaro

Here's Sakai Masato's new drama.  He was a lawyer and a banker.  This time he is a psychiatrist working at a university hospital.  He is a brilliant psychiatrist whose patients includes the Japanese government's Chief Cabinet Secretary.

(Spoiler)

Dr. Rintaro makes much of counseling rather than treating patients with drugs.  He listens to his patients and tells them, "You've worked too hard.  You've pushed yourself too hard,"  "Don't work too hard.  Don't push yourself too hard.  You don't need to do that from now on."

He has a younger sister and he has a childhood friend (a female doctor) working in the same hospital.  As in any universities and hospitals, a lot of politicking goes on in his hospital which he does not really care but cannot avoid.

Dr. Rintaro meets a woman named Yumeno (played by Aoi Yu'u).  She is a Geisha who seemed to be going through mental difficulties.  She seems to be falling in love with Rintaro or it may be just her call for help.

Dr. Rintaro's advice to his patients, "You don't need to push yourself too hard," is somewhat heart soothing to the viewers of this drama.  It also has funny scenes which remind me of Legal High.

An interesting drama.  You can't go wrong with Sakai Masato.  Right?!
