Kodoku no Gurume 4 Ep.6

Cheese Kulcha and Lamb Mint Curry

This week Gorou-san went to Shitamachi (Low Town) in Tokyo.  To be exact, he went to Kiba in Koutou ward and had Indian food.  (continued)

His first course was cheese kulcha which he called "a garlic pizza Indian style".  It looks like chapati or pocket bread with cheese inside.

His drink was mango lassi, a yogurt drink.  Cool and nice!

The next item is bhuna oyster.  Bhuna is an Indian cooking technique in which spices are cooked in hot oil.  For details, please check this site.

Gorou-san's choice of veggie is tandoori veggie.

His last course is lamb mint curry with basmati rice.  It looks very refreshing as it has full of mint leaves.

As for Mr. Qusumi, his first drink was mojito, a drink mixed with mint, lime juice, white rum, sparkling water and sugar.  I drink mojito when I eat at a Mexican restaurant.  I bet it goes well with Indian food as it's a very refreshing drink and mint goes well with curry.  I'm sorry to say this, but Mr. Qusumi's mojito does not look good.  I prefer to have it in a tall glass (not a water/wine glass with a stem) with a lot more mint leaves.

Mr. Qusumi had chickpea salad, rasam (a south Indian soup), and mackerel curry with yellow rice.

Rasam
To me, south Indian food means "very spicy".  Rasam uses curry leaves which is hard to get in Japan.  I wonder what yellow rice is.  Is it the same as saffron rice or curry-flavored rice???

Anyway, Gorou-san and Mr. Qusumi went home happily with full stomach.
